I've been growing my hair out for over 6 years and have learned a lot about maintaining it along the way. Today I want to share a few tips and tricks to keep your hair healthy & shiny.
One of the best things you can do for your hair is protect the ends from damage. My hair is naturally straight so I put a lot of heat on it to keep it curly. I recently discovered a new hair oil that I have been loving. Cacay Oil Elixir is super lightweight and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth. I use it as a heat protectant, smoothing serum, and to add shine.
I apply the oil to my hair when it's wet before blow drying. My hair is pretty thick so I usually use a full pump and run it through my hair focusing on the ends, but I do put it all over. You just don't want to put too much near the roots to avoid it looking greasy. I apply the oil right when I get out of the shower then let my hair air dry until it's about half dry. I do this to avoid putting too much heat on my hair. After blowdrying, I apply a little more to smooth out the ends.
When I use my curling iron, I apply the oil to the ends of my hair to protect it from heat. It's always important to use a heat protectant to make sure your ends aren't getting damaged. Many hair oils are tick and weigh down my curls. Cacay Oil Elixir is very lightweight and doesn't feel heavy on my hair--it doesn't leave a greasy feeling either. Plus it smells really good and has hair shiny and frizz free.
